The thermostat is able to be set between 65 and80 degrees Fahrenheit with 5 degree increments. This heater uses an oil reservoir to create radiant heat. It comes prefilled, so you don’t have to worry about finding the right type of fluid or topping it off. Additionally because it is a pure radiant system, there is no fan. No fan means that there is no additional noise to deal with, making this the quiet space heater you’ll ever use.

This Pelonis space heater is also extremely easy to move, thanks to the wheels on the base. It is essential from a safety standpoint that you have the wheels installed when operating this unit. The wheels provide clearance so that the hot housing does not sit on the floor and cause damage or create a fire hazard.

Where to Use this Space Heater

Oil filled space heaters have their advantages and their disadvantages, and as long as you’re aware of both, you can make an informed decision.
First, they get hot to the touch. The heating element in the space heater heats the oil to temperature, which then radiates the heat outward. Accidentally touching the space heater while in operation will result in a burn.

Secondly, they are slow to get going. It takes time for your space heater to heat up the oil inside of the radiator. The flip side of this is that the oil takes a while to cool down as well. So even fifteen minutes after you’ve shut the heater off, the sides can still be hot.

Another safety concern for oil heaters is that they have full 360 radiation heating. So you can’t put this in the corner of the room like you can a forced air heater. The best location for this type of heater is in the middle of the room.

On the other hand, if the space you want to heat is drafty, this space heater will handle it like a champ. You don’t have to worry about heating the outdoors because that’s not how radiant heat works. It will keep you warm much like lighting a campfire in the middle of your shop would do.

This Pelonis oil-filled radiator is a great space heater is great for garages, basements, and other areas where you aren’t going to see a lot of traffic. That’s because for all of its advantages, this oil-filled heater gets extremely hot to the touch. Small children or pets can easily burn themselves unless you install a safety cage of some sort. But despite those shortcomings, if you need a powerful heater for your uninsulated workshop with an open bay door, this space heater is an excellent choice.
